CANTRAC™ Locomotive Remote Control

The Cantrac™ throttle and brake locomotive remote control system is designed to meet the specific requirements of industrial rail operations and local common-carrier railroads, providing operators with flexibility and direct control of locomotives from positions adjacent to the track or the train.

It offers a state-of-the-art digital radio subsystem (the same radio technology used by BELTPACK®, the gold standard of control signal integrity), ensuring communication integrity on a continuous basis and virtually eliminating radio communication outages between the locomotive and the operator control unit.  It allows multiple locomotive remote control systems to operate in the same area while sharing the same radio channel.
CANTRAC™'s basic features include:

     • Synthesized Digital Radio Transmitters/Receivers
     • Automatic Brake Control
     • Tilt Detector with Tilt Bypass & Extend

The CANTRAC™ LT is advanced technology for push-pull applications. Engineered for maximum versatility and with a full set of functions, the LT is perfectly suited to applications requiring a locomotive at each end of a train such as loading and unloading bulk material.

CANTRAC™ LT is designed to simultaneously control both locomotives from either the locomotive's cab or from the ground with advanced radio and control equipment along with a portable operator control unit (OCU) for transmission of commands.  This innovative approach to distributed power offers benefits in terms of safety, cost reduction and operational flexibility.  Depending on the work and environmental conditions, the three communication components of the LT can be used in various combinations.

MANUAL / LEAD-TRAIL RC MODE - an operator controls a set of remotely controlled locomotives from the cab of the Lead unit.

OCU / LEAD-TRAIL RC MODE - an operator controls a set of remotely controlled locomotives from the OCU to the Lead unit which are then relayed to the Trail unit.

OCU SINGLE RC MODE - with LT mode off, an operator equipped with an OCU can opearte a single remotely controlled locomotive.
